OUR FAIR

The Rideau-St. Lawrence Science Fair is open to students who are under the age of 21, in Leeds, Grenville or Lanark Counties and are Grades 7 to OAC students.

Our Fair began in 1962 and was organised by a group of scientists and engineers from DuPont Canada. Since then we have welcomed many officials and participants from Lanark, Leeds and Grenville’s teaching, medical, scientific, and technical community. Without their dedicated work and support, the Fair would not happen.

Many of our participants have gone on to the Canada-Wide Science Fair (CWSF), where, despite our small size, they have enjoyed great success. Our CWSF participants have won Best of Fair, Gold, Silver and Bronze medals, scholarships, monetary prizes, trips and special tours. These projects all required an idea with a good question, some research and hard work. Helpful mentors, teachers, fair organizers, fair judges and our sponsors made it possible.

Some of our participants have become doctors, dentists, engineers, scientists biologists, film makers, entrepreneurs and have succeeded in many fields. Many others have used their science fair experience to help themselves as they proceeded through university or college.
